Find the right dog gear

Feeders, water fountains and indoor potties, in one filter, each row carrying the page its figures came from.

Filter the eight records

Set the constraints

Eight records, filtered as you change each control.

The type control splits the list into feeders, water fountains and indoor potties. The capacity and dog size controls apply to the family they belong to, and a record that does not publish the value you are filtering on drops out rather than being guessed at.

Four of these records are sold for cats as well as dogs. Nothing on this page changes because of where you are reading it from: the species a product is sold for is a property of the product.

The filters read the same fields they read everywhere else on this site. Capacity is the hopper volume for a feeder and the reservoir volume for a fountain. The dog size control reads the weight the maker says the unit is built for, which two of the five records publish and the rest do not. Where a maker publishes nothing, the record drops out of the list rather than being filled with an estimate, so an empty result is a statement about the sources and not a fault in the product.

What the dataset holds

Seventeen products across four families, and every record carries its source.

Eight of the seventeen are sold for dogs: four feeders, two water fountains and two indoor potties. Fifteen of the seventeen carry a dated price. We have published no first-party measurements, because our own bench is not running.

Two of the eight are water fountains and two are indoor potties, and both families are thin. For the fountains we could not find a third unit with a dated price and a manufacturer page behind it, and for the potties there is one manufacturer selling a self-cleaning indoor unit with a live price. We would rather publish two records we can stand behind than six we cannot.

What it cannot tell you

The finder filters published facts. It cannot tell you how the gear behaves in your home.

  • Whether the fountain pump will survive your dog. Pump failures are on each review page.
  • Whether your dog will drink from it. Owners report both outcomes on the same model.
  • Whether the price will hold. Every price is an observation at a named source on the date it was read.
  • Which one is best. The list filters, it does not rank, and we publish no score we have not earned.

Before you filter

Why does one page mix feeders, fountains and potties? Because a dog household buys all three, and because they are the three product families in our dataset that are sold for dogs. The type control on the left narrows the list to one family at a time if you only want one of them.

Which of these also work for cats? Four of the eight records are sold for both animals and are marked "Cats and dogs" on the card. The other four are dog products: the two fountains and the two indoor potties are not cat products, and the PetSafe Smart Feed 2.0 is sold for either.

Are these tested? No. We publish the manufacturer specification, a dated price and the documented owner complaint record, each with the page it came from. We do not publish a score we have not earned and we do not publish star ratings we did not compute.

Can I use the data myself? Yes. The dataset is published as JSON with a documented schema and an open endpoint, and the endpoints are described in an OpenAPI document. Use it, cite it, and tell us what you found.

Read the record, not the summary

Every figure on a review page carries the page it came from and the date we read it.
